DOLORES FIGUEROA ROMERO is CONACYT Research Fellow at CIESAS; PhD in Sociology from York University in 2011. Her research interests are Latin American indigenous women’s activism, indigenous peoples’ human rights advocacy networks, popular feminism(s) and indigenous peoples’ forms of governance. Her doctoral dissertation comparatively examined the gender dynamics and indigenous women’s participation in indigenous organizations in Nicaragua and Ecuador. During the last years she has explored the correlation of Indigenous women transnational activism and the proliferation of learning experiences for building leadership capacities. She is a resourceful and skilled online teacher of distance education programs, dedicated to teaching indigenous women leaders from different world regions, since 2010, fully involved in online teaching in the Global Leadership School of Indigenous Women, sponsored by the International Indigenous Women’s Forum (IIWF). Several publication on these issues.
