Fabrice Dubertret

FABRICE DUBERTRET is a PhD candidate in geography at Université Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle, Centre de Recherche et de Documentation des Amériques (CREDA, France). His research focuses on the political use of participatory mapping by indigenous peoples to secure their land rights. More specifically, he analyses the critical role global transparency of information regarding these claims – often invisible on official maps – can play in securing indigenous rights to their lands, territories, and resources. As the principal operator of the World Atlas of Indigenous Peoples’ Territories project (WAIPT – http://www.iheal.univ-paris3.fr/en/recherche/waipt-project), Fabrice is also one of the 13 founding members of LandMark (www.landmarkmap.org), the first online, interactive global platform to provide maps and other critical information on lands that are collectively held and used by indigenous peoples and local communities.
