SUZY BASILE comes from the Atikamekw community of Wemotaci, she has a Bachelor degree and a Master degree in Anthropology (Tourism entrepreneurship in an Aboriginal environment in Greenland and Quebec). Since August 2007, she has worked first as Research Officer, then as Aboriginal Project Manager and now as Liaison Officer with the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), at the Val-d’Or campus, Quebec. She is board member of the DIALOG – Aboriginal Peoples Research and Knowledge Network. She is also a lecturer at UQAT and UQÀM – Université du Québec à Montréal. She is currently finishing her thesis in Environmental sciences Ph.D. program of the UQAT and is interested in the role and the place of Atikamekw women in land and natural resources governance. Mrs. Basile also worked on the Ethics of research with Aboriginal peoples and she published on the issue.
